"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

The woman is handling two addictions at the same time ;-))

Gérard Beullac from Paris, France

Colors and lines .... Beautiful.

8 Jul 2013 6:38am

@Gérard Beullac: and poor smokers

Nigel from Avening, United Kingdom

A universal sight, two strangers forced together because of a shared addiction, which is probably the only thing they have in common. I wonder if the mobile phone is a useful distraction so that she does not have to engage with the man ? The problem is Mariana that you pictures always raise so many questions..... :-) They area commentary on human activity which I have not seen from any other photographer. You have my unqualified admiration.

8 Jul 2013 6:40am

@Nigel: thanks Nigel. you are right, so my pictures are not good for relaxation and entertainment ( for these who do not like to think and go deeper into picture meaning )

Yep! Don't smoke and don't like the smell for me this is best for non-smokers but for them it adds more hassle and probably more stress, which may be the reason they smoke in the first place

rob from faenza, Italy

This picture is so "static" and well composed, in a sense of "perfect moment", that I'd like to see it cropped down to a square. Usually I do not write suggestions on whatever. Please take my 5 stars anyway. :)

9 Jul 2013 3:39pm

@rob: thx Rob. You know, I almost never take the suggestions seriously, but this time I really think the same as you when reconsider this image. I agree that a square shape would be more cool !

franz from Baden, Austria

a fun capture of a "threatened species" who will do anything! perfect "capture" of the moment !!!
