Looking For The One !

Canon EOS REBEL XT 1/500 second F/11.0 ISO 200 75 mm

"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

19 Oct 2011 12:19pm

@Willem: eye contact between old man and man turning back and looking at him is my one and only point of the story ;) Thanks !

Rick from Toronto, Canada

Yes, the eye contact between these older gentleman and the guy leaving the frame is indeed the main story (and makes me wonder what is up) but any time you have a police car and a couple of guys leaning in the window, that adds a cool extra layer. Nice street shot, M.

19 Oct 2011 1:00pm

Jean-Luc T. from Juignac, France

Why is this guy looking at them with such silly smile? What is he thinking about them?

19 Oct 2011 1:37pm

Don Levesque from Saint John, Canada

Maybe the story here is about the old man and the guy leaving the frame, but what caught my eye more was the police car and the way the old man is sitting, as if hiding from them.
Excellent street capture!

19 Oct 2011 4:25pm

franz from Baden, Austria

very intriguing scene, mariana! after reading the comments and your answers, i cannot help saying that - aside from the "main" story which is the one you obviously want to tell - there IS something else going on! i like the casual attitude of the two dudes leaning against the police car!!! do they know the policemen/women that well? are they just absolutely callous? this is what i'd like to know as well ... ;-))

19 Oct 2011 4:39pm

@franz: to bee honest I am / was not interested at all in the police car and these two guys... they were just a super setup for my picture and story I wanted to have in this image. I loved these two old guys as I said before, who seemed to me like hiding from police but still very curious in what was going on there .... and then... this man in the corner was that great lucky moment for me , turning back and looking at these two old guys ... well, I talked a few times about my story .... I sound boring trying to explain something that is so obvious here, but for people who do not have experience with street photography it is still enigma story with a few stories within .... Thx Franz !

19 Oct 2011 9:12pm

Christine from Ellemford, United Kingdom

I love the framing of this, the way that old guy is tucked into the corner as if he owns the bench and the other as if he is having a nice snooze, and the obvious companionship between the two

19 Oct 2011 9:18pm

Nigel from Avening, United Kingdom

19 Oct 2011 9:23pm

Jason Politte from Conway, AR, United States

Really well seen shot - the framing almost makes me wonder if the older man sitting behind the block and nearest the police car is the one they're looking for.

19 Oct 2011 9:54pm

Elaine Hancock from Rockville, United States

Great street scene. The one old guy looks like he is having a stare down with the guy crossing the street. And does look like he is hiding! But the two guys talking to the police also intrigues me! A great shot!

19 Oct 2011 10:19pm

Dokmateo from Madrid, Spain

And can't be seen hiding on the bench. Interesting street scene.
