"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

Z from Shanghai, China

It is a nice documentary of the Amish culture! I love the classic composition and the process which outputs some attractive 19th century oil painting mood. Nice picture!

@Z: thanks Z !

Mark Johnson from Rural Douglas County, CO, United States

Great processing. My favorite part is the hats and the uniformed look, and the people focusing on something out of frame.

2 Jul 2011 2:22pm

@Mark Johnson: interesting . since i needed to climb a tree to avoid a fence and see what is going on over these heads in foreground , my favorite part of picture ( as you are saying ) is all I see over these heads , but at the same time only complete frame is only a full picture :) So, there is not fav part of it ;) thanks for visit !

Longroute from Cagliari, Italy

This is truly interesting! A modern rodeo! (I know it's an auction but it looks like a rodeo!)
I like this outskirts of town atmosphere with a PP so that the photo looks like an old one. Very good idea nad processing.

Twojays from Southwest Montana, United States

Gosh what a lot to contemplate. The grainy texture is neat, sensual. Those hats and similar clothing make me think of Huterites or Amish, or similar group? The one horse in background the major action and where my eye rested.

2 Jul 2011 2:55pm

@Twojays: Thanks a lot ;)

Sam from Chennai, India

A wonderful image. Very interesting. Great mood here. And nice processing. Great :)

I really love this, superb composition and so much too look at but my eye always returns to the horse. I love the oil painting look to this image it suits it perfectly.

Rick from Toronto, Canada

This is very beautiful. I love that the horse is being led and we get to see that action between the two. There are so many cool details all over the frame, and for some reason I am really liking those distant light posts and trees as they enhance the whole shot and give a real depth and sense of the place. The processing is perfect! Great day to you, M.

DULCIE from Danville, CA, United States

Wonderful scene. Lovely gritty noisy grain that makes us sneeze with the dust in the air.
Love the hats, the dark tone, and the composition. A very painterly feel. Terrific.

Phil David Morris 2011 from Saskatoon, Toronto, Canada

Amish or Hutterite, I guess the caps can give it away. The way you processed the color
is a very good representation of an old style that worked beautifully here, and the very
spirited horse is a fabulous animal, the bidding must have been good on this one.
