A Man Young And Old

Canon EOS REBEL XT 1/250 second F/5.6 ISO 400 180 mm

*

"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

Fantastic Marianna :) Love the sense of fun.

23 Jun 2011 2:09pm

@Richard: sure :)

Z from Shanghai, China

very funny:-) and the dark brick background vs. the bright wall & window background is also a intersting point of view

23 Jun 2011 2:20pm

Rick from Toronto, Canada

A perfectly titled and beautifully truthful slice-of-life image! Just yesterday after work in a busy supermarket, I saw an elderly man in the check-out line beside mine taking a good long and loving look at the posterior of a curvy young woman ahead of him. I had to suppress a chuckle because of the hunger and memory in his eyes, and realized it will be me one day, trying to keep my gaze respectful but (like the man in your photo) lost in the delicious memories of younger days. Anyway, this is so well seen! Youthful hearts are all that matter, and no amount of trips around the Sun will change that.

23 Jun 2011 2:21pm

@Rick: You know what Rick ? I love to see when guys are staring at beautiful or sexy woman . That is very rare in my city ....that is why this moment I needed to capture, to reassure myself that in this city guys are interested in women but they are too polite or afraid to stare :)

foto forté from Phoenix, United States

Funny....some things in life never change and this is one of them...boys will always be boys:) Nice capture of a timeless image, Mariana.

23 Jun 2011 2:35pm

Christine from Duns, United Kingdom

Gave me a huge smile. Good on him

23 Jun 2011 2:37pm

Rick from Toronto, Canada

Haha... I always admire beauty, and will do it eye to eye if given the chance (but in a way that says "you are beautiful" and not "I want something", if that makes sense?)... the women here tend to slide their eyes over just as we pass, and when you catch each other in a direct gaze it is always interesting and funny or just refreshingly honest! :-D

23 Jun 2011 2:42pm

@Rick: oh, what you are saying reminds me of Europe :)

Jason Politte from Conway, AR, United States

Ha, excellent shot Mariana! Yes, he's certainly taking it all in. :-)

23 Jun 2011 2:49pm

Longroute from Cagliari, Italy

This is doubtful an "American" scene (even if it's Canada). I like the two contrasts: the brick wall versus wooden one and the old man versus the young lady. Furthermore the light is splendid.
You have a good photographic eye my friend!

Ciao,
Donato

23 Jun 2011 2:54pm

@Longroute: thanks Donato ;)

You have a science of the human situation and movement, and that's another proof of that, once more you've captured a moment, in suspension, with a few movements of the characters you manage to give a dynamic.
