Does not Have Enough Money

Canon PowerShot SX100 IS 1/8 second F/2.8 ISO 200 6 mm

"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

Chris Pereira from San Jose, CA, United States

DULCIE from Danville, CA, United States

Whoops, not enough money for the whole family to get on the rides? Nice night-shot in black and white.
Do I see some embarrassed grins? :-)

4 Jun 2011 5:56am

@DULCIE: that is right, Dulcie , but beside this grins each face has a very impressive expression that attracted me the most ! just see these poor kids and their faces, their worries if daddy is going to pay or not, if they are going to enjoy themselves in Luna-park, or not ... I do not know , I feel this scene so deeply, and nobody of these who commented this image so far noticed it ...

Roland from Manila, Philippines

can't help to notice the anticipation on the kid's faces...my father sometimes took us on such trips, i know he worked hard for that...he must have felt the same...great catch...have a nice day/evening!...

4 Jun 2011 4:53pm

Rick from Toronto, Canada

Oh oh... the two youngest children look concerned, and it is a story unfolding in this moment that makes me hope they were able to sort this out so the kids could have fun... maybe the father should sacrifice his admission so that for sure his family can get in. The patient and pleasant expression on the woman in the booth is a softer balance for the rest of these emotions. A wonderful story-telling image with great framing.

Yah I saw the little girl's face and the fellow who looked really upset and the teller in the booth who is smiling (weird) and other expressions and I can relate to this poor guy...I do not understand some cooments, either....I see this image as an emotinal piece and expertly done....but lately i have seen some comments (not on your blog so much) that are obviously coming from people who want to only regard the image as a technical piece with no emotion. Strange, for if we focus on technical "rules" only, we may as well all be building a brick outhouse.

4 Jun 2011 6:43pm

@Denny Jump Photo: thanks Denny . I should stop being surprised on some comments :) We are all different, with different understanding of things, of images we post daily on Am3 .

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

Oh yes, the little girl's face tells the entire story. She is looking at mom expectantly hoping they get to go on the rides but worried they wont be able to. A touching image of tough economic times and what it means to real people. I think that politicians, here at least, sometimes don't understand or don't care except for how it might help them get elected.
