Deep in Thoughts (Amish Woman)

Canon EOS REBEL XT 1/160 second F/5.0 ISO 400 135 mm

"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

25 Apr 2011 3:05pm

Rick from Toronto, Canada

What a wonderful, textured, multi-layered portrait. She is a lovely woman of years and wisdom, and I can't help but wonder at how different her life has been from these modern "convenience"-oriented lives that those outside of her culture have been hurrying to live. She is free of that, and it must look increasingly alien to her eyes, the way this world changes so rapidly. Great work, Mariana.

25 Apr 2011 3:10pm

@Rick: it's always pleasure to read your great comments, Rick . many thanks ;)

larans from Lund, Sweden

I think that your two pictures here really shows, not only by the way they are dressed but by the way you have managed to capture their expressions and the mood around them, the very different way the amish peoble do think about development and the "rushing" world we are living in today. You are a brilliant observer and your skilfullness to capture those things is incredible.
