Chronic Diseases

Canon EOS REBEL XT 1/250 second F/5.6 ISO 400 105 mm

"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

Tede from Aubenas 07, France

18 Apr 2011 7:58am

El pare from Prepirineu, Andorra

I don't know if this man has a chronic disease, his appearance is to be in good health. If he is, he sees life with optimism, despite everything. Very good pic, as usual.

18 Apr 2011 8:49am

grouser from Ludlow, United Kingdom

The glasses have it. That strange combination of eyes and reflection. As for the breathing, all very well if you can do it. Presumably the runners pictured are an example of abnormal breathing:) Excellent documentary portrait

18 Apr 2011 2:28pm

Gérard Beullac from Paris, France

Strong image. I love the fact we are first attracted by him and these curious glasses and then sliding to the leaflet.
Finally the image remains mysterious.
That's good.

Denny Jump Photo from Easton, PA, United States

Those glasses are definitely the stealer of the show - but not by much...that sign is a curiosity grabber if there ever was one! This is such a cool image Mariana! I love this one - so much to see and so interesting!

Another great photograph!

18 Apr 2011 3:44pm

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

Another whacking great portrait. Normally I wouldn't like to see harsh reflections from spectacles, but it works here because we can still see the shape and clarity of his eye, in fact they become a focal point for the whole picture.

larans from Lund, Sweden

You got a wonderful effect with his glasses and eyes (some PS?). I can swear from this photo of yours that his eyes are blue! :-) Is he also biking?

18 Apr 2011 6:36pm

@larans: no, never seen him on a bike, but each time I see him he is drunk ;) A polish guy wandering in downtown . Cannot remember the color of eyes but could be blue ....
as for eyes and glasses , I did not do anything to get this effect ... in color this shot looks cool , glasses are full of reflections ...

I just added a color version here, so yes, blue eyes :)

Beautiful contrasts and nice capture of this animated fellow. At first the glasses looked like the kind where eyes look like they are painted/superimposed on the lenses. The eyes are almost mesmerizing.
