"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

Tede from Aubenas 07, France

A splendid framing, tones and reflections georgous. I like it. 5 *. Mariana nice day.

31 Mar 2011 5:16am

Suzanne from Melbourne, Australia

the brown is almost like a blight with all that steel, reflctions and lines.
Is what human's build no longer able to fit us in...?

31 Mar 2011 5:19am

jafadabret from Annonay, France

Les gris bleu, les reflets et le graphisme font une très belle prise !

31 Mar 2011 5:32am

Fraucha from БІЛА ЦЕРКВА, Ukraine

Susan is right, I think any human would be out of place. But this guy does not care, at least he has (or had lol) some privacy!

31 Mar 2011 5:43am

JacklineG from Béarn, France

Indépendamment de cette personne qui meuble bien la scène, j'aime beaucoup les teintes de ta photo ! Bonne journée Mariana

A nice scene made better with the lone person in the middle.

31 Mar 2011 6:21am

Gérard Beullac from Paris, France

I like the general ambiance in this picture, steel, concrette and glass, not really warm. And this little human presence, hardly emerging from that environment.

31 Mar 2011 6:23am

Sharat from Bangalore, India

woowww!!

31 Mar 2011 6:32am

DULCIE from Danville, CA, United States

31 Mar 2011 6:33am

PATRICK from miramas, France

superb

31 Mar 2011 6:56am

larans from Lund, Sweden

I like the contrast here between the warm human colors and the cold ones from the costruction.
Maybe, I would have cropped it harder to the left, to get a more harmounius comoposition.

Shaahin Bahremand from Tehran, Iran

31 Mar 2011 9:27am

Wonderful framing to see this lone figure seated in this functional space of steel and glass - all reflected in the cold colours of the ornamental pool.

"Dear Mr. Bank Manager,
I'm sat outside of this ugly cold steel and glass building which you guys have erected from the profits of us small people, while you sit up there in your warm softly carpeted cosy office drinking latte whilst counting beans....."

31 Mar 2011 11:29am

Excellent framing and outstanding color treatment. A great image.

31 Mar 2011 2:18pm

Denny Jump Photo from Easton, PA, United States

Judging by the building design and chairs perhaps the letter is a sterile one.....

31 Mar 2011 2:25pm

@Denny Jump Photo: This is a man who is writing a letter .
So , I disagree it is a sterile one .... Thx Denny for visiting ;)

Denny Jump Photo from Easton, PA, United States

I had a bad feeling my comment would be ill- said - I do apologize....I was trying to be funny and wound up being stupid - I was just looking at the metallic chairs and teh stainless steel and glass building and trying to draw an inference that was ill-conceived...you know I love your work..Very sorry Mariana!!

31 Mar 2011 2:51pm

alex centrella from California, United States

31 Mar 2011 3:41pm

L'explorateur from Vancouver, Canada

Hi Mariana! I went through Vladimir's pictures. He was a piano player! He has a very nice face. A good man, I would say from your portraits. And even from this distance, I like him. But he's alone most of the time...

31 Mar 2011 4:21pm

Richard from Didam, Netherlands

Great title and shot Mariana!
I like the contrast between the man and the modern surrounding.
Realy a good shot lady ;-))

31 Mar 2011 4:29pm

Dear Visa, I promise to pay next month....... :0 Well whatever he is writing the surroundings look cold and unfriendly. It's a good shot Mariana.

31 Mar 2011 4:56pm

Marie LC from Entre montagnes et Bretagne, France

I am sorry that my sky did not please you but I don't try to show of "never seen" but what touches me and no no sky is not the similar

31 Mar 2011 5:17pm

@Marie LC: It pleased you and only that is important ! When I look at the picture of sky, of landscape, of animal, flower, or other plants I expect to see something extraordinary that really shines with beauty and originality ... Sorry if you misunderstood my comment ;)

António Pires from Lisbon, Portugal

Good framing and nice tonalities.

31 Mar 2011 5:35pm

Pascale. from La Bonneville sur Iton, France

the harmonious colors, the graphism, the luminosity with the lonely man inside, give a splendid picture!I love it!

31 Mar 2011 5:39pm

PixeLuz from Vitória, Brazil

Sure he has so much to write about: a novel, the story of his life. But now the question is: what about his style?

31 Mar 2011 5:40pm

@PixeLuz: very unique I can tell ..... good or bad, that is his business, his life :) Maybe I wish to have a different style too, but cannot do anything about it !

Jean-Louis from Nîmes, France

Une belle harmonie de coleurs très douces !
Belle photo !

31 Mar 2011 5:55pm

Franz from Baden, Austria

i hope the letter finds him! ;-)) this looks like a pleasant enough place, although it's mostly concrete and steel, but that can be nice, too!

31 Mar 2011 5:58pm

M@ndy from London, United Kingdom

interesting interpretation

31 Mar 2011 6:06pm

Christine from Duns, United Kingdom

Love this image, so strange to even see someone writing with concentration like this, instead of tapping away on a phone.

31 Mar 2011 6:24pm

Rick from Toronto, Canada

A wonderful compo; he is dwarfed by all of this structure that surrounds him, but his concentration on writing is wonderful because he does not seem to care about the building or any of that nonsense. I will never stop writing letters to my friends, with pen and paper. I like technology but it gets out of control. Nice shot, Mariana!

31 Mar 2011 6:57pm

@Rick: I only write letters to my mom. All friends are on emails ;) And once , I printed my letter to my mom and added a big font size, and bolded and added some images .. just for fun .. and my mom said - what is this ? looks like some wedding invitation ;)) She wants to see my handwriting , which is getting worse and worse , especially when write in my first language ;)

Philippe from Nivelles, Belgium

Hi, Mariana. A nice unity of tones which allows the man writing his letter to stand out in the ensemble. There is also a nice set of vertical lines and good reflections.
Have a nice day,
Philippe

31 Mar 2011 7:29pm

kiwisa from North Shore, New Zealand

Melocoton from Salamanca, Spain

precioso reflejo, y tu detalle social , como siempre,
muy bonita

31 Mar 2011 8:36pm

Rick from Toronto, Canada

Hey, M : I usually go with email, but for special things like birthdays or Christmas, I will send handwritten cards or a letter to cherished people in my life. It is a nice thing to keep alive in society, because everything is speeding up and people are so impatient about things now, and you are right... handwriting goes downhill fast because we hardly use it anymore. I like technology, too, though : I have to love a 16 gigabyte memory card that can be used over and over. :)

31 Mar 2011 9:05pm

Itziar from bilbao, Spain

I love the treatment and strong colors. a hug

31 Mar 2011 9:25pm

Thea from Leeuwarden, Netherlands

Somehow someone doesnt fit in this setting...but this shot is beautiful!

31 Mar 2011 10:02pm

@Thea: without him I could not even dream of taking picture of this scene . take a look at his bike, trown down, his jacket on another chair, his concentration in writing something .. he is just born for my picture and this scene :) sorry, for somebody who never takes pictures of people, it is hard to understand this picture and find deeper emotions in it :)

peter.K from blue mountains, Australia
