"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

Chris Pereira from San Jose, CA, United States

Fraucha from БІЛА ЦЕРКВА, Ukraine

Well, you are hitting my new home better than me. Even if it is a few hundred miles away. You are seeing what I see but what I missed seeing, if that made sense.

17 Mar 2011 6:03am

@Fraucha: I know what you mean :)

you wrote :"everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see"
we can have a look on this scene, but it´s hard to see really what this situation really shows! a lot of questions, who are this people, what is their destiny, in which environment they live and so forth....
thx for giving me the chance to take a brake for a moment!

17 Mar 2011 3:30pm

Rick from Toronto, Canada

Wonderful and undiluted reality. This is it, right here. The beautiful simplicity of a meal together, and all of those years as life partners (I read your reply to Curly) evident in the "invisible" spectrum of this photograph. I love the bread, so rustic looking, and the two faces now aging that have known each other since they were young lovers. I love a photo like this.

this is very much like on the farm where i spent my summers as a kid (more than 50 years ago) - very basic, very down to earth, only the bare necessities! everything else that i could think of has already been said above!

17 Mar 2011 4:54pm

Pascale. from La Bonneville sur Iton, France

superb portraits where the ancient atmosphere is enhanced by the sepia tones. To look at your picture makes me imagine how is their life, what did they do during the day, what is their story, I like this very much.

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

An amazingly intimate scene. You seem to right in their kitchen sharing this humble meal with them. They seem to be weary, as does that cooking pot. But all three keep going. A sensitive portrait of life.

17 Mar 2011 5:29pm

Gérard Beullac from Paris, France

Is she waiting for him finishing his supper?
The capture is anyway great!

17 Mar 2011 5:52pm

@Gérard Beullac: that is really not important ! I love her look, being so deep in her own thoughts in the middle of the supper . Thanks Gerard !

NaDu from Köln, Germany

Very austere this meal. A very strong and grave photo and the colour toning underlines this. The cut of the lady is somewhat unusual and make her seeming central though she's at the edge. One of the best and most impressive I saw from you.

17 Mar 2011 6:08pm

Williams from Nova Scotia, Canada

I like the rough but somehow gentle tone. Comfortable to be for the moment with their own thoughts, the kind of comfort that can only come from years of being together. This photo makes me calm. Cheers,
