In front of Closed Doors

Canon PowerShot SX100 IS 1/500 second F/4.0 ISO 80 10 mm

"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."

sunstone_maria from California, United States

the lines are just great!!!!

5 Jan 2011 5:56am

Rick from Toronto, Canada

Strongly layered, with those strong lines of repeat patterns interrupted vividly by the person in the motorized cart, seemingly shut out... lost... or any number of symbolic meanings that the viewer can apply. Wonderful "vision" and that textural vibe that you apply to the upper frame is very cool.

5 Jan 2011 5:58am

Stephen from Canberra, Australia

Perceptive shot - some doors remain closed.

5 Jan 2011 6:10am

This is a powerful image making use of texture patterns and lighting to convey a very pertinent emotion... !

5 Jan 2011 3:02pm

@Look from Nivelles, Belgium

The dark atmosphere is well suited to the decor. For me, the man is waiting to take his job, or for a friend who closes the doors ... Not necessarly dramatic, just different! The sky where an icy wind is blowing, is very impressive!
Kind regards

5 Jan 2011 3:12pm

Philippe from Nivelles, Belgium

Hi, Mariana. There are good horizontal and vertical lines in your image. The repetition of doors adds a graphic aspect to it. Sharpening has created an interesting texture. The man is a precious addition in the image giving it scale and life.
Have a nice day,

5 Jan 2011 3:22pm

Wolfen from Villefranche S/S, France

Une composition lourde de significations, l'utilisation des lignes sur ce cliché réhausse la lisibilité, j'aime beaucoup l'ensemble très équilibré et son traitement !!
Du beau travail encore une fois Mariana !!!
Bonne semaine

Leaves me wondering on his story. Alone, cold, doors shut.

5 Jan 2011 11:54pm

PixeLuz from Vitória, Brazil

Part of the story is just obvious. And dramatic. Well we only can imagine why he is there alone in front of closed doors waiting for someone or something...
The strange thing is that many people don't see it... I like your answers to them.

6 Jan 2011 12:32am

Yes, I meant the BW tones Mariana - your BW processing has something uniquely wonderful to it - may be, its not the processing method you use but your eye for the right BW contrast, tones, details.
