Scarf .....Chained to His Memory

Canon EOS REBEL XT 1/200 second F/6.3 ISO 400 75 mm

"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

Denny Jump Photo from Easton, PA, United States

I like the very first comment about 2 faces looking at the scarved woman...and the expressions are so telling, the lady seems almost timid but I don't know if that is true...Here we are again, faced with a masterful image - conveyed by you, Mariana - that brings us to the point of thought and reflection, wonderment and conjecture, curiousity and imagination....You are such a (may I say it) Genius at these images! Thank you so very much for making me think!!

12 Nov 2010 4:06pm

@Denny Jump Photo: thx Denny ! Just something - what I see in this image nobody so far saw it ;) Sometimes I think I imagine things , but no , I created my images because I saw it , I recorded it . It is not easy to understand a moment and interaction between people from one single image, but at least one can try and have a longer look than 1 second, that is needed to see a foto of a single flower ;) I am not going to talk what is that I see here, but this man , his look, his hand frozen in air, after leaving an envelop into this mail-box .. He simply got stunned in a moment when saw this woman . I was looking at him long after and he did not see me since he was still looking after this woman , without moving ... It looked to me as he recognized somebody in her face, in her scarf .... Well, I could write a novel of this one single image ... Thanks again .

13 Nov 2010 6:05am

Pixim from Nice, France

This photo shows that your intuition is the main driver of your success. The fraction of a second that sets up the whole story was written perfectly. I like the sharpness placed on the scarf that becomes the question and the interest of the photo. I like this composition, with a real silent communication between the two main characters in full view of the third person. Hi to you the Photographer ;)
