"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

Indeed, I found the first image a bit confusing. The hand gesture can mean so many different things in different cultures. Today, though, it's quite clear. Genuine smiles all around. :)

@QB: first confusing ? how come ? I am confused with this what you are saying :)

9 Aug 2010 8:14pm

Ralph Jones from Detroit, United States

OK what's the joke? Perfectly timed.

9 Aug 2010 8:33pm

@Ralph Jones: was not joke at all, but since you asked here it is : What's the difference between basketball and sex? In basketball you dribble before you shoot!

oriol from Sant Cugat del Vallès, Catalonia, Spain

The expected second shot! All the family is proud and happy, and wants to show the face of the satisfaction. I like the gesture of the mother. A mother is always a mother ("I will bring a bottle of water because my son or my husband will be thirsty... Look! She is taking pictures"). This is the second time that a policeman gives me a glad day. First time, you know, was yesterday.

9 Aug 2010 8:49pm

@oriol: and you are one of rare who left a comment on this picture and understand it . it is really a pleasure to read you great comments. it tells me a lot of of person who is behind these words, and this is You ;) many, many thx .

Such happy faces..compelling and this photograph makes me smile!

10 Aug 2010 3:44am

QB from Victoria, Canada

@MARIANA. I'm sorry. All I meant is that I didn't understand what was happening in yesterday's picture. What did the man mean with the two fingers? Did he mean to say, "Victory"? or "Buzz off!" or "Give me two, please!" I know that you wrote about a proud father, but I did not see a child, so I had trouble understanding.

10 Aug 2010 4:51am

@QB: NO problem at all. His child is this policeman, nobody else ! I thought it was very understandable - A man who is proud having a son-policeman, as any other father / mother having a child successful in his career ! Right ?

Christine from Duns, United Kingdom

Lovely laughter :)

11 Aug 2010 7:52pm

@Melocoton: Scared ?? Scared of people ???? Never . I am scared of scared, dangerous animals, and there are many of these among humans . DO not you see these warm, lovely smiles on these faces .

shoti from somewhere in, China

a brilliant capture. now I understand the story. nothing can be more uplifting for parents than to see their children grow up to live their dreams. heartwarming.
