Catch the Sun, Before it's Gone

Canon PowerShot SX100 IS 1/1250 second F/4.3 ISO 320 60 mm

"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

Bettina from United States

Wonderful! Images are not just about the technical. It's about seeing and interpreting the world. That's your strength for sure. This a simple image, until you highlight those colors on the water and add your beautifiul title, and it becomes about everything we remember about childhood. Beautiful!

A truly touching and beautiful image, with a great title. There's a sadness, too... because the sun goes down, summer ends, children grow up. Catch the sun while you can. Isn't that a message for all of us?

5 Aug 2010 6:39am

Dilwenn from Bordeaux, France

It is a good idea to capture the sun:))

5 Aug 2010 6:50am

A wonderful use of what the technique offers Mariana! The composition is wonderful. With detailed thread that runs through the space and the distribution of color! A work of art! The stare at the orange stain is left waiting for something to happen! Very interesting! Best regards, Adela

Awesome. Perfectly captures the essence of a dreamlike moment of childhood.

5 Aug 2010 2:36pm

Sonia Nansid from Barcelona Stockholm, Sweden

Very very beautiful! I agree with Bettina, how we process what we see is what we should offer to the world.

5 Aug 2010 2:44pm

@Sonia Nansid: I do not think that processing is the most important . Composition , story ( if exist ) is what makes me to take a picture. See, for this picture I was thinking of BW as a more suitable than these tones ... From all these comments I love what QB said . That is exactly my story !

don from spokane, United States

Clever title given the red reflection and the fellow fishing. I like his concentration on the task of catching something. Pleasant composition.

MK from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

this one evoked a strong emotional response in me, i still dont know exactly what it is, a longing for something un-remembered

5 Aug 2010 4:20pm

Sonia Nansid from Barcelona Stockholm, Sweden

When I say "how we process what we see" I mean, how we digest, how we interpret our surroundings through our emotional intelligence mainly. I was not referring to the technical editing of the picture, but spiritual.

5 Aug 2010 4:21pm

@Sonia Nansid: Ok, Sonia, thx . Sorry for my misunderstanding :)

✿ Anina ✿ from Auckland, New Zealand

This is beautiful Mariana! I love the clever processing and composition. The perfect title to go with this image. Somedays I feel like holding on to the sun so the day can be longer... not because of the sunlight but because it's been such a good day... I love those days where it's just a "wonderful day" ( not weather wise ) and where you realise life is good... but all good things come to an end... some days are less good though where I just want to "push the sun down" and wish the day was over...
