"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

Bettina from Los Angeles, United States

Beautiful and touching. It does go by too fast. And your capture tells it so well. It's just perfect, the man's inclined head speaks of weariness. Your tones underscore your meaning. Really great.

The super blur goes so well with the subject - and the smooth greenish B&W too.
I like the moving bent man looking at his feet before crossing, and above all the effect of speed on the wheels, very graphic !

Yeah. How philosophical Mariana ! And yes, like this man wearing time on his shoulders, and on the edge to cross a road (I suppose), while a car passes by, we're just crossing life. As temporary passengers.

14 Jun 2010 5:52pm

Susan from Sausalito, United States

Still, we tend to feel that older people have miserable lonely lives, but for many I know it is a rich and calm life where the moments are often rich with meaning. But I love the metaphor here with the speeding car. I think I'd rather be on the sidewalk...you know, Rousseau and all that!

14 Jun 2010 6:07pm

jeff (aka dogilicious) from Millerstown, PA, United States

14 Jun 2010 6:32pm

✿ Anina ✿ from Auckland, New Zealand

I love the blur and the title fits perfectly. Life goes too fast indeed. I can't believe it's basically the middle of the year already. This man's posture is somehow sad looking ( I know he's old so it's probably just because of age ), but seeing that he was leaving a nursing home, I could not help it but to feel sorry for him.

14 Jun 2010 7:40pm

Amanda from Jersey City, United States

Sadly, yes. I walk like this old man...looking at my feet or the ground with every step. Maybe if people would pick up after their dogs, I could look around more and better experience this fast moving world. :)

16 Jun 2010 1:58pm

Magrat from Nordhausen, Germany

A special one, Mariana... the hat of the old man reminds me on my grandpa, he'll turn 80 this year... and sometimes I think it's quite unbelievable how fast time goes by... makes me sad... somehow... Too much I wanna know and see and live... too much for one human life span..

So. Enough with those moody thoughts. I LOVE your picture, 5***** :)
