"look, try to understand before one of us dies"

"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

NaDu from Köln, Germany

Very characteristic moment and title. I don't know whether to smile or to sink into melancholic thoughts. Colors would disturb. A splendid portrait of these two.

13 May 2010 6:13am

@NaDu: Thx NaDu :)) I personally feel very sad when was watching these two men .

k@ from Paris, France

A true street shot, great pace for those 2 men with, it seems, problems maybe in their social life, either money or disabled-something, and your title sure makes the image deeper. I like the fact they both look to nowhere/the ground, seem really connected and listening each other like real friends or brothers. A cool pair.

13 May 2010 6:21am

@k@: You noticed it very well. I am sure they are disabled . Could be brothers, saw them with two more young guys . I am afraid to post this picture with 4 of them . They all look the same .

JoeB from Brampton, Canada

Waterloo/Kitchener has always been viewed as a wealthy progressive area, you're showing a side that most of us are not really aware of.

13 May 2010 10:57am

@JoeB: My dear Joe, my Canadian neighbor , accept what you see on my page . This is reality, this is what is going on in this city. What you see on my page is only 0.0007% of what is really happening on the streets of Kitchener-Waterloo.

✿ Anina ✿ from Auckland, New Zealand

Superb! As always I like the tones and comp. The brick wall in the background is perfect, it adds to the interest of this shot. The titles is perfect for this shot - you planted a seed in our brains... ;) You've got most of us are thinking... The result of an excellent photographer! One of the many reasons that I'm a fan your's.
I'm curious now as to what they were discussing, seems serious though. The man on the left looks as if he tried to get his point through - look at the hand, it's in a fist, almost as if he is adamant.

13 May 2010 8:14pm

@✿ Anina ✿: I was behind them in one store . They where so loud , especially the skinny man, and trust me their conversation does not have any sense . thanks .

Terral from Ponoka, Alberta, Canada

LOL Great title. Looks great in B&W.

13 May 2010 9:18pm

Scott F. Schilling from San Martin, United States

I like this and your title is perfect! The black and white gives this a rough and harder feel to the image and the situation. Great work!

13 May 2010 10:49pm

Henk van Rijssen from Utrecht, Netherlands

Two guys, probably friends forever for who and what they are. Maybe depending on one another (and that makes your title so strong).
Just one simple photo and you can create a whole (speculative) story around them.
Only powerful photos will raise such questions and create stories.
My compliments!!

13 May 2010 11:09pm

@Henk van Rijssen: my pleasure to read your words and understanding of this photo . unfortunately many gets blind in front of reality !

Lori from Michigan, United States

your capture is thoughtful and provoking....but it makes me sad. I never like to think of someone dying without friends or family around.
