Loitering

"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

This reminds me of some scenes I've been seeing in movies. They turn them dark and put cool tones on them like this. Really nice.

13 Nov 2009 11:01am

shoti from Everywhere in the, Philippines

though I agree with others that this is indeed a fantastic image with great processing, I somehow think this would be more effective using normal processing. the composition, moment is truly powerful. the effects are unique and wonderful too :)

13 Nov 2009 11:03am

@shoti: Trust me , I have no clue what it would be a normal processing :)) I really did as normal as possible processing for this type of street shot .... The only effects I tried and got are to get dirty , mysterious shot ... Loitering is very mysterious to me , here in Canada, so I tried to express my thoughts and feelings about what is called - loitering :)) Many people cannot understand that if do not have a police on your back after 5 minutes being on the same place , doing nothing ..

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

Sublime processing, very gritty.

13 Nov 2009 3:50pm

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

"Loitering" is too harsh of a word for this neat capture. I love the processing achieved here.

13 Nov 2009 4:28pm

@Steven: well, for our silly police seeing somebody on the street means "Loitering"... a few times they asked me too what I was doing ... and told me to move on ... :)) I cannot understand this term - "Loitering" . It is up to me to stay on the same spot for all long day and stare at one spot :))

13 Nov 2009 4:59pm

don from spokane, United States

I like the hunkered down look of the walker with his collar pulled up. The stylization of the image with the processing enhances the appeal of the shot. Very well done.

13 Nov 2009 5:25pm

Mike from United States

Split toning? This has a very nice look to it. I like the motion in the shot. The stationary vs walking man accentuates it. Very nice!

Une très belle photo ,qui par ton traitement , lui donne un effet un peu mystèrieux .

13 Nov 2009 8:14pm

Fred from Manila, Philippines

Like a scene from a comic strip. Great treatment. Works for the image. Maybe add a little more noise to give that sense of drama? I think that's just me and my addiction to noise. hahaha! But really, nice job you did with this kind of processing Mariana. :)

13 Nov 2009 8:19pm

@Fred: I do not like noise ! When I see it I see it was covering of the bad picture. not every time, but in many cases :))

13 Nov 2009 8:24pm

Christel from Köln, Germany

Good evening, Mariana,
This recording is a bit too dark, but she has style. Personally, I like color pictures, but I might try it once in black and white. They have done a very good job. Dear greetings Christel

13 Nov 2009 8:43pm

@Christel: thx Christel :)) It is good that we all like / love different style . For me , color pictures are becoming my past :)) I really do not find so many interest in them, but it does not mean I do not love to look at other people's colors pictures especially when they are very well done :))

flyingwind风飞扬 from Bridgetown, Barbados

resembles a negative film!!! much processing, isn't it! the single color density made by this 'negative film' is so vivid! and i like the walls with grids far behind too!
