Sadness

Canon PowerShot SX100 IS 1/320 second F/4.0 ISO 160 52 mm

*

"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

Wow!!! What detail you have captured here to be able to see his stubbles. His expression is indeed disheartening. I am amazed at how close you are with your subjects. I'd never have the nerve. I take it he didn't mind having his picture taken?

5 Oct 2009 5:49pm

@Steven: Thx . NO, he did not see me .. I was following him for about 5 minutes and looking at his face that was changing all the time with apparent pain on it . I wished to take a candid shot right away but I felt so much for him, that made me very nervous . In one moment I was very close ( 3 meters ) and took a few shots quickly . I might post another one in color with more expressions on his face . Will see !

Twelvebit from Victoria, United States

Nice detail. I've settled on HDR for some very limited circumstances and find that I can usually get something very similar with Orton processing. You can make impressive portraits with it though if you stay subtle and don't get carried away.

7 Oct 2009 4:06am

@Twelvebit: Thanks for this info . I do not know, but seems to me I do not know to use properly HDR software and I gave up on it . I even do not have a great experience with PS . I have been using it for only 6 months. Before that I used Picasa and GIMP .

Blackdog from London, United Kingdom

Great portrait - especially like the way you have isolated the figure against the background - not easy to do in candid photography.
