"The moment always dictates in my work. What I feel, I do. This is the most important thing for me. Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see. I never calculate or consider; I see a situation and I know that it's right, even if I have to go back to get the proper lighting."
~ Andre Kertesz

I really like your work Mariana. You are a special person. Although I comprehend your view of people in there environment, I would be very interested in your view of more closeup portraits, if I am not pulling you out of your comfort zone. Your images seem to be among the highest commented on here. I think its because your images draw the viewer in. Into LIFE !

26 Feb 2010 6:30am

@chuck: thx Chuck ! Very interesting comment and you got me 100 % . Portraits are my favorite work, but you know I love variety and it would be boring to me first to have my page for portraits only. Last night I opened another page on another site where I am going to post only portraits . Many thanks !

k@ from Paris, France

Ice is even more fragile for them for sure... I'm surrounded by wheelchairs where i am right now, and my friend has her own, damn hard to lose one's legs. I like the duet you captured here, with the man walking ahead, like another image of the same person, one who can, one who can't, hoping the one who can't will be able to walk instead of roll over the ice, one lucky day. Nice graphism in the background too. (sorry for yesterday and not having read the pic the way you intended. At my place, many saw a jogging where the woman in boots, jeans and coat was just having fun scaring the seagulls with her dog. It's normal we see different things, we're all so different. But sorry if it hurt you, this woman of yours had a too visible trousers, her fault ;))

26 Feb 2010 1:26pm

@k@: ha ha .. yes, her fault for sure :) I smile now ... and for the wet road - on today's shot :) I spent 20 mins searching among my ready pictures to find this one, after getting an email from a friend with song :Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel

Richard T from Leicester, United Kingdom

I'm sure she's imagining getting on that ice and making the wheels spin and doing a hand break turn.

Powerful image Mariana. I was going to suggest 'heartbreak ' ... but on second thoughts I reckon it's a case of ''been there done that'' .

richard

26 Feb 2010 2:10pm

@Richard T: Thx Richard. Come back and see my reply to Karine, and take a look at this link . STUNNING video that inspired me yesterday to find this shot and post today .

The one who walks, those who skate and the one who remembers maybe...Powerful!
When my daughter was born and when walked her with the stroller.. I realized in which point the street could be a route of stumbling blocks constantly and specially which do not run more than in dreams...

26 Feb 2010 5:34pm

SOUL AFLAME from The bosom of Mother Nature, United Kingdom

A mind that trades places with the skaters, eyes that follow the movement of supple limbs, and a heart that cries out in pain. The simple things in life we take for granted, M, until we no longer have what we once thought our right to possess. A very clever shot that juxtaposes the realms of mobility, albeit in very different ways.

My Bass player in my band just turned 17, and his father was asking about what type of camera I might suggest they get for him, as he was getting interested in Photography, my first thought were on quality images, and what photography should be, and my second thought was You, so I recomended a Camera, close to what you use, and the web page addy to your work here :) Open his mind to what Photography Truely is.
